The Arts Subcommittee of the Historic Downtown Prosser Association is issuing a call for artists to paint miniature “critters” on several designated buildings throughout Prosser’s Historic Downtown.
This project will consist of a series of small paintings, each on one to three bricks and each featuring a small animal that is native to the Prosser area. This project was inspired by the artwork of David Zinn.
The committee is looking for whimsical, yet realistic, depictions of mice, quail, squirrels, rabbits, skunks, frogs and goldfinches. This project will culminate in late September 2017, with a weekend painting event that includes all artists and coincides with Prosser’s annual Harvest Festival, September 22-24, on downtown streets.
To respond to the call, artists should complete an artist application, available online at HistoricProsser.com or in person at HDPA’s office, 1230 Bennett Avenue in Prosser.
Applicants must include a sample of their artwork and a sketch of one (or more) of the birds and animals identified above. Applications are due by July 15, 2017; selected artists will be notified by August 15, 2017.
