Artist Spotlight – Martha Nelson Andrews

As part of the beautification and visioning projects in Historic Downtown Prosser we’ve purchased 11 fiberglass ponies to be painted by local artists and placed throughout our historic downtown corridor. These ponies have been sponsored by local businesses, organizations and individuals.

We’d like to introduce you to the artists involved in this exciting project!

 

Drawing and painting since the age of 3. Studied at Art Center Southern California in Industrial Art Double degree in Animation and Fine Art at Mission College.  Worked at Petersen Art Gallery, Beverly Hills, California.

Worked as art director for Petersen Publishing Co. including Hunting, Guns & Ammo, Motor Trend Specialty Publications, 4 Wheel and Off Road, designing magazines cover to cover winning several Maggie Awards.

Worked as a background actor in the Motion Picture industry and made connections with set builders and journeyman artists.  

Painted Murals and 3-D  projects for Universal Studios, Sony Theme Park  (Japan), Sony’s Wild Things at the IMAX Theater in San Francisco,  Lego Land (Germany), Disney, Coors, Saga Gameworks, CBS, NBC, California Wildlife Federation and the Department of Fish and Game.

Specialized in children’s murals and other scenic interiors including faux finishing and theater sets.

Some clients have been TV celebrities such as Steve Harvey.  Local projects include the PMH Foundation Board’s mural in the Jean Lippman Courtyard.  

Winner of the design competition for the Prosser Wine & Food Fair for two years in a row and the “Record-Bulletin’s” magazine cover competition.  

The most recent awards are two gold metals in the San Francisco Artisan Competition for Coyote Canyon’s latest two Artist Series Wine Labels.
